Another new 311 article!!!

HERE is another new 311 article (interview with P-Nut, for those who don't know, the bassist) from Phoenix’s College Times online. This is a classic example of how f*ckin' cool this tour is going to be. P-nut drops in about the new album, Snoop and Weed!!!!

Update from my June 10th post!!!!

I sent 311's management team on 311.com an email, reguarding my post on the tenth..... "tribute"

below is the email i received back from them: I removed my email address, cuz I don't think the world needs to know it, and edited the 311 management email address. Now mind you I was disappointed for a slight second, while reading this, but on the other hand, they're sending me something from the actuall concert day!!!!! please read on --->

Hey Rodney, thanks for your email and longtime support of 311. Much appreciated. I was sorry to hear of the passing of solider Matt Maupin. It sounds like the news has shaken up your community and of course is a loss for us all, as he honorably served our country. As for your request, I'm sorry to say that 311 no longer make stage dedications. The band did so for many years, but the requests now are vastly overwhelming. And the band no longer feel it's right to do it for some, and not others. I hope you understand. Thanks again for dropping a line. We wish you all the very best!

Peter Raspler, 311 Management

Rodney, we at the 311 Management team would like to send you an actual stage set-list used at the concert in Cincinnati, for your thoughtfullness and dedication. Thanks Again!

Nice 311 & Snoop tour article

Finally, an article that portrays 311 accurately! =D

One thing that makes this tour pretty cool is that Snoop has sold nearly 4 times as many albums as 311, yet it’s still 311’s Unity tour. I think that says something about 311’s current fan base, and the fact that even though they don’t get much media attention, they are a major force in the music industry!

Tribute............

This past Friday night, after I got home from work, i downed a few beers before getting ready to go out for the night. I was sitting at my computer, checking out 311.com and decided to head on over to the b.b. and leave a tread for the band. More of a request. I requested that the band play the song "tribute" at the July 5th concert @ Cincinnati OH. I ask the band to tribute the song "tribute" to Matt Maupin.

The Military has informed the Maupin family of the body of their missing soldier found in Iraq. The father of soldier Matt Maupin, listed as missing-captured since 2004, says he has informed him that his son's remains have been identified. Sgt. Maupin was a 20-year-old private first class who was captured April 9, 2004, when his fuel convoy was attacked.

This particular death is painful in the Cincinnati area because Matt was one of ours and we have watched and held vigils and prayers with his parents since his capture four years ago. And now we've got the news that we so dreaded.

Matt was not famous. He wasn't a rock star or a celebrity. He was just a good honorable kid serving his country. And he paid the ultimate price and was kept from those that loved him for way too long.

And now, at least, he's home. I really do hope they get to read the b.b., I think P-Nuts parents run the website.... I think? Matt, I tribute, "Tribute" by 311 to you. Thank you!

more this and thats on 311

311 is now on facebook!!!!

I just found this blurb on consequenceofsound.net and the writer felt the need to preface a quote from 311 Management with this:
After the hugely disappointing Don’t Tread on Me, 311 has returned to the studio to work on their ninth studio album. In a posting on their message board, the band’s management revealed the following about the currently untitled album:
What exactly qualifies the statement “hugely disappointing?” Was the writer personally disappointed, or did he view it as unsuccessful in a business sense? Because I just found an article that says DTOM debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top 200, and was the #6 single on Modern Rock radio.

I do have to give that site props though for covering the 311 news pretty extensively…they had a lot of summer festival updates re. 311, and even recognized 311 Day. =D

Nick performs "White Man, in Hammersmith Palais" with Camp Freddy @ the Roxy!

Nick was featured as a guest singer last Thursday with Camp Freddy, a “supergroup” of LA rockers (including Dave Navarro) who just ended a monthlong residency at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip. Billy Idol, Jerry Cantrell, and Juliette Lewis were among other vocalists featured that night. Watch the video of Nick performing “White Man in Hammersmith Palais” with the group HERE!

You can also read a review from the LA Times HERE!
I think Nick did an AMAZING job! He sounds nearly perfect vocally, and his passion for the song really comes through at the end - I’ll admit I got chills! It’s a little weird watching him perform with a different band, but interesting at the same time…it’s fun to watch how his stage presence/style translates in a different environment, and how he interacts with the crowd!
